Shamir Australia – Standing up against the stigma of Mental Illness
Driving at night should be no more difficult than driving in daylight, but for too many people, that’s just not true.
Mental health is a growing concern in our communities. Globally around 1 out of every 4 people will be impacted by mental illness at some point in their lives. Mental health is something we at Shamir Australia feel very passionately about supporting and helping to break the stigma that surround mental illness. In 2022 we partnered with LifeWorks an Australian employee assistance program provider that gives our team at Shamir access to counselling and various support services. We decided we wanted to further showcase our Shamir values and support by collaborating with TradeMutt to get our very own customized Safety shirts.
TradeMutt is a social enterprise workwear company created by those working in the trade industry to improve the quality and lives of employees worldwide. Their mission is to design workwear to encourage conversations about mental health. They do this by creating a very eye-catching shirt design with an important message to encourage conversations that help make employees feel supported in the workplace. Making the invisible impossible to ignore. Each shirt has a QR code under the pocket that allows employees free access to mental health services and counselling at any time. 50% of their profits are donated to this support service, helping to ensure this valuable resource remains available to those in need. In addition to this, we have customized the shirt to include our Eyres Safety logo for a personalized touch, bringing awareness to our products and service.
Most importantly, wearing these shirts sends an important message about the values of our company and dedication to ensuring staff are looked after. Happy and healthy staff create a happy and healthy workplace, which unites us as one and in turn drives our authenticity and passion for innovation that has led to our success here in Australia.
Our team can attest that the shirts speak for themselves, having been approached by both staff and customers that were interested in the design which subsequently sparked conversations to enhance our harmonious work environment.
