Sunlight consists of a spectrum of light at different wavelengths
that can be divided into visible and invisible light.
Blue light includes wavelengths in the part of the visible spectrum
from 380 to 500nm (ISO 20473).
This is the highest energetic light reaching the retina (CIE 203:2012).
The main and most powerful source of blue light is the sun, outdoor
and indoors.
To date, Shamir focused all its efforts on the spectral band from 400
to 455, commonly referred to as blue-violet light1.
Light management
Exposure to sunlight is essential for our vision.
However, it is important to manage light effectively,
including fully blocking UV rays and filtering
blue‑violet light.
Shamir Blue Zero™ is a lens material featuring a built-in filtering of
blue-violet light1 emitted mainly by the sun.
Based on a unique polymer formula, Shamir Blue Zero™ not only blocks
harmful UV light from reaching the eye but also provides up to 3 times
more filtering of blue-violet light1 than clear lenses*2 while maintaining
lens clarity**.
To deliver the highest optical quality solution, we integrated Shamir Blue Zero™ with the cutting-edge coating of Shamir Glacier Expression™.
Shamir Glacier Expression™ – The advanced premium coating
Shamir’s everyday premium anti-reflective lens coating provides powerful reflection reduction together with clear, detailed vision, designed to help you see sharper, be seen clearer and feel better.
LOOK BETTER Improved aesthetics
with up to 70% less
reflection*3
SEE BETTER Greater visual clarity
with improved contrast sensitivity by 25%**3 and sharper more detailed vision – 55% of wearers reported shorter reaction times**3
FEEL BETTER A low SNR is associated
with high fatigue & eyestrain. Glacier Expression delivers lower background noise & higher SNR, based on a Shamir adjusted
SNR calculation for AR coatings***3
Shamir Blue Zero™ + Shamir Glacier Expression™ – provide the eyeglass wearer with all the leading advantages of both the Blue Zero lens material and Shamir’s advanced coating:
More powerful filtering
When we combined these two products the filtering results were amazing: up to 10 times2 more filtering of blue-violet light1
compared to clear lenses with Glacier Expression coating.
More powerful uv protection
Shamir Glacier Expression™ offers additional UV protection*3, absorbing and reflecting UV rays away from the eye on the back side of the lens, preventing harmful rays from being
reflected into the eyes. In all indexes.
All eyeglass wearers of any age,
at any time, and every day
Wearers of prescription eyeglasses or plano lenses
Up to 10 times more
filtering of blue-violet light¹
than clear lenses*²
*Compared with clear 1.5 index lenses with Glacier Expression coating
Blocks both incoming UV rays
as well as those reflected off
the rear surface of the lens
